What up with RCA DVD Recorder/VCR with Digital Tuner, DRC8335?

I don't understand this RCA DVD Recorder/VCR with Digital Tuner, DRC8335? I just brought one and ain't working right. The TV Tuner isn't pick on channel scan and because of that VCR isn't play video/audio but DVD side work on play. I have DishDVR reciever and hook it up and still not work. Anyone who has got this produce and use DishDVR (like 522 or 625) got it work, I like to know how? I did everything I can think of. Got any answer for me because I am get ready to return it.

d**n, the enemy wins again.  You have to have the Dish equipment to decode the signal.  That becomes the only way to change the channel.  the tv or vcr has to be on channel 3 or 4.  

This is the only reason I like cable.  you can run it to your components and use them like tuners.  sorry :((
