The Llorona- (in english it is the Crying Woman)

This figure has been recast from an evil mother into a tragic victim, heroine who has had her story told all wrong, a forgotten ancient goddess transformed into something ugly, and someone relatable. Artists like Ana Castillo and Sandra Cisneros have been using this image as a source of inspiration. And from time to time I see the Crying Woman in paintings and drawings in her numerous forms. There is even an art gallery that uses the name.

I always think of this urban legend as its own genre of art and self expression.
