Question:

What use is a central heating boiler without a timer?

I've moved into a flat where the boiler just has a thermostat and an on/off switch, but no timer. How do I make sure the water's hot and ready to use when I wake up in the mornings, without having left the heating/hot water on all night?

And why even install such a useless boiler in the first place? What's its advantage? I suppose it's cheap to install (although clearly not cheap to run!)

  1. if its a combi boiler you will get hot water on demand.Thermostat is just for heating.

  2. It's dump now.

    Buy another one

  3. Whoever installed it was a numpty.  MIne is the other way round, I have a boiler with a timer but no thermostat.  Which also I couldnt believe when I moved in.  Maybe we should swap boilers or something ?
