What useful products can be made out of recycled tires, besides playground mulch?

People in third world countries often make sandals out of old tires.

My MIL makes flower planters out of them. Somehow, they are still attached to the rim, which makes a pedestal, and then turned inside out to make an urn.

You can also make a variety of swings out of tires. My kids' school also has a row of tires planted along the edge -- it makes a sort of fence, but the kids love hopping along from tire to tire.

I'm sure with the price of oil going up, there will be more and more economically feasible uses for old tires.

I've seen shoe soles and entry matts made of them.

They can also be used for lawn ornaments (Ive seen some VERY creative sculptures, and planters, hehe), and Ive seen at least one article on someone using tires and rammed earth to build a house.
