  1. as others have said it depends on the state. our state requires that you need to get an exemption form for religion only. but for homeschooling the state does have standards that you must follow so that all children are getting proper education.(some parents sign up to home school but don't teach them anything all day)

Its not the drugs that I object to its the fact that if the child comes across someone with some of these diseases or even a carrier of them then they could die or spread it. teachers are not even allowed to know which children in their class has AIDS and that to me is scary.

and to the other person that said that it isn't the governments business, it is their business because they are paying for your child's education. that's why its called public schools. now if you want to talk about private schools then they have base standards by the gov. also but they have more lea way.

very little of this is my opinion and you can clearly tell the difference but you need to check your states procedures, I am only talking what is required for the 3 states that surround me.

  2. What state do you live in? If you live in any state besides MS and WV you can get either a religious or philosophical exemption. If you live in MS or WV, you can try and find a naturopathic Dr in your area that will sign a medical exemption for you.

Check out http://909shot.com/state-site/state-exem... and find your state. It will have information on the laws, exemptions, and provide a link for information on how to obtain the exemption.

I choose not to vaccinate my children. I live in CA, where I can obtain a philosophical exemption. It is as simple as just signing a paper that says that vaccinations are against my personal beliefs.

  3. ALL schools require certain vaccines or they won't admit your child to school.

Most schools I know require the chicken pox vaccine, MMR, polio, the general booster shot parts I and II.  I believe tetnaus is also required.

You can always call your school district to check.  If you homeschool however, be sure you know the laws for your state. Some require use of an umbrella school program to do so and the deadlines for those for the coming school year are closing or past for many programs.  Even with homeschooling you may not be exempt completely for things like sports or if you choose to use some of the district school's offerings because they may require you to have vaccinations to participate in certain activities within your school district even though you may opt to homeschool because you would be using the services of a school district.

  4. Do not let the gov. and schools force you into this.  I think if they try to require you then you should home school.  You seem to be really caring and I bet you'd make a great teacher to them.

    Good Luck!

    EDIT:

Ladyo whatever under me here has NO idea what she is talking about.  Most states have the exceptions to waive the shots.  The shots have enough parents putting up websites and joining support groups for the babies that have died by shots or have long term problems from them (autism).  Don't let ANYONE bully you.  This is your baby's health!

Secondly, most states have NO homeschooling laws.  I live in Michigan and you don't even have to say you are homeschooling or not, it is NONE of the governments business (and they know that).  Also, those few states ,that do require some guidance from the state, do not force you to DO anything like sports etc.  They might have you test you child with the standardized tests so don't freak out.

There are TONS of homeschooling programs online and remember the National Spelling Bee tried to outlaw homeschoolers because they are so good.

    Edit for boomer:

I said it is not the gov. business if you do homeschooling.  You obviously didn't read it correctly.  BUT the schools cannot even make a case that it is their business what drugs you want to put into your babies bodies since they have exceptions to have the vacc.  SO it is NONE of their business. Oh and guess what?  The government doesn't pay for the education we do in taxes!!!! HA.

  5. As others have said, it's up to the state.  Most do have exemption laws.  I no longer vaccinate my kids (my youngest has had reactions) but I homeschool so I don't even know what the law says in my state.  :-)

  6. Depending on your state you can ask to sign a religious and philosophical waiver. Stating because of those reasons you are choosing not to vaccinate, but that depends on the state.

Good luck You are probably going to get all kinds of negative comments  regarding your decision to not vaccinate.  But again IT IS YOUR DECISION.

  7. Well like the other answer before mine it truely depends on the state you live in.

Here in Missouri all you have to do is get a waiver from the school that says the reasons why you do not believe in getting your child vaccinated.  My son is starting Pre-K as well and he needed to get a MMR Booster, polio vac., and one other one. I do get my children vaccinated and I have a lot of my friends who do not. And I believe that everyone has the right to chose that for their children.  Also, I homeschooled my son for the last yr and he was only 11 pts shy of being into K. So I did not want to rush him so he is going to Pre-K.

    Good luck!

  8. You will have to check with your local school district.
