Why did you choose them?

How excellent would it be if you could say that the standard that you used to choose your friend or group of friends was their love for ALLAH(SWT) and Islam!

A friendship bond chosen by a divine standard!

Al-Hadith: "To be alone is better than (to have) a bad companion; and a good companion is better than being alone; ...")

Islam recognises that a Muslim will naturally spend more time with certain people and be more comfortable with them in raising their personal problems and issues. This does not mean in any way that the rest of the Muslims are not their brothers and sisters whom they love, rather all that it means that they will be closer to certain people than others just as people are usually closer to their family than others. Islam recognises that friends have a strong influence on people and that their environment will affect the strength of their relationship with Allah swt. The Prophet saws said “If one of you loves his brother for Allah’s sake, then let him tell him since it causes familiarity to endure and firmly establishes love.”  and “You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not guide you to something which if you carry out you will love one another. Spread as-Salaam amongst yourselves.” [Muslim]

Hadith:

When Two True Friends who Love each other for sake of Allah Azzawajal Meet and recite Darood and Salwaaat upon Holy Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him, Before they apart thier previous sins are forgiven.

From this you can realise how much Islam gives to Islamic Friendship, but Friendship must be for the sake of Allah.

Make such people your friend who can remind you about hereafter. Not make you away from Salaat etc.
