  1. Dogs are omnivorous and need vegetables as well as meat to live healthily. Corn is a good choice but apples, carrots, celery and most vegetables will work. But, onion, mushrooms, avocados, raisins, and grapes are bad for dogs, so stay away from them.

  2. Vegatables contain assids witch are Not good for a dog.

  3. My lab mix loves carrots, lettuce, cucumber, corn, peas, green beans.

Yes you can add them to food!He also loves Apples which are his favorite!

  4. Well, labs will eat ANYTHING, so be careful :)

    Obviously, no grapes.

My dogs adore crunchy carrots and apples. They spit out lettuce.  I do not give them commercial treats - they get bread, carrots, apples, and (sterilized) bones from the butcher.  I've even used vegetable scraps as a gravy over kibble - just boil the scraps and puree in a food processor.  Have you ever read the ingredients of commercial treats?  It's just low-grade fat, feathers, some kind of starch, and tons of salt and chemicals.  If you give apples, DO NOT allow apple seeds (they have trace amounts of cyanide.)  I actually have a great time baking my own dog treats. I flavor them with beef broth, bacon, or cheese, use cute dog bone cookie cutters, and generally feel like a domestic diva :)  They eat commercial dog food - gluten free, organic, and made from venison and duck as one pooch doesn't stomach grass-fed cow/chicken well.

    Everything in moderation.

Of course, my lab prefers paper towels to everything else!

Before you start altering their diet, check with your vet.  Run all ingredients by your vet!

  5. Carrots make good treats, also my dog likes banana's.  Be careful though, there are many unexpected items that can be toxic to dogs.  Peach pits can be deadly.  Onions, grapes and raisins are all toxic to dogs.  Everyone hears about chocolate, but there are many other common foods that pose more danger to dogs.

  6. Mine LOVES carrots.  We buy a bag of those whole, large carrots that look almost horse-sized, and we cut off the top and let him have it.  He chews on that thing like a jerky stick.  We were a little worried that it might be bad for him at first, but the vet said it was fine for him to eat, so now he just munches away!
