  1. Get yourself copies of Kitchen Garden and Grow Your Own magazines for this month. They both have articles covering all the stuff you can plant now for fresh veg and salad between now and spring.

Much easier than me putting it all on here!

  2. The only things you can really plant now are things that will "over winter" and be ready to eat in the spring.

These include onions, cabbages, broccoli, and cauliflower.

If you can find seed potatoes, it is still possible to plant these for some lovely new potatoes ready for Christmas but these are better planted in pots which can be moved indoors for the worst of the weather.

Garlic can also go in from next month.

In October / November, you can plant green and runner beans straight into the ground as these will survive all but the coldest of weather if they're not to big which is why you can't plant them now.

If you have cloches or other covers, you can also plant things like peas and lettuces which will not take really cold weather but will be okay if they are covered from the worst of it.

  3. Various root vegetables which will grow all year round.

  4. Have a look at the marshall seeds website,Loads to go at.I can put a link on for you  but you will have to pick from a list,It is there.http://www.marshalls-seeds.co.uk/

  5. This article has a section on growing vegetables in winter on the second page:

5 Easy Landscaping Ideas for Winter

    Hope it helps! Good Luck!

  6. Winter carrots can go in now, as can winter radish and over wintering varieties of lettuce. Corn salad (lamb's lettuce) will overwinter very well. Swedes and winter turnips can go in.

You can plant potatoes now to get a crop just in time for Christmas dinner, garlic should go in in November. You can autumn sow broad beans, cauliflowers, sprouts and spring cabbage for overwintering too.

Autumn planted onion sets (japanese onions) can be planted from around September time too.

You've still plenty of time for a crop of radish, even lettuce if you can keep it under cover.

I'm sure I've missed a lot but there is such a lot to miss.
