  1. A `95 Jeep Cherokee 4lt Auto.

Used to have an Elldis Hurricane, the Jeep didn`t know it was on the back !

Now have a Lunar Solar Eclipse 615

  2. Nissan Terrano - a bit like a Discovery, but doesn't rot, doesn't blow head gaskets every five minutes, better on fuel & all seven seats face the right way!

Oh, and people with legs can fit in the 2nd & 3rd rows of seats - have you ever tried to get in the middle seats in a Disco?

  3. Land Rover Discovery

About the best amount of pulling power you can get for the price, doesn't rot as the body is aluminium, doesn't matter about the chassis as its built like the Forth bridge, and if an outrigger goes its a morning to replace it.

Cheap to insure (£130.00 A year fully comp), cheap and easy to maintain. (discs and pads for the front about £50.00 complete, and I can change all four shockers in an hour without taking any of the wheels off or jacking it.

V8's don't blow head gaskets, so none of the problems associated with diesels.

On road tow capacity - my boat is just over 3000Kg with twin axle and direct coupled hydraulic braking - will tow all day at 50mph

As for caravans - never towed a single axle on-road, but I have shifted the big living vans about on the sites with no problem.

Thats basically the difference between a proper towing 4x4 and a SUV.
