What verification do I need to prove that I am separated from my husband physically (not legally) for FAFSA?

For the FAFSA, I filed separated. I don't think the FAFSA requires you to be legally separated, just in separate households. I was wondering if I happened to need to for my school or FAFSA, that if i was picked for verification; how could I prove that I am physically (not legally) separated?

  1. Paperwork,  your address on bills, his address on bills for another address. Drivers license copies from both with different addresses

  2. I believe the FAFSA asks if you are "legally" separated not physically seperated.

I doubt physically separated would fly in most instances when dealing with the fin aid office... (hubby is in the military for example).

Perhaps if you showed him he was in prison or something.  A domestic Violence or police report.  Tax return without his info on it.... his girlfriends Blog bragging he cheated on you.

    :-)  hey, you never know.

You could ask them exactly an "illegal" seperation is... see the reaction that gets you.  lol
