I want to have open office, i want too be able to put a nice mplayer (like Korean for example), I want to access the usual features without a command window. I am just a simple user, so I need an easy and "good looking" version. Which one do you recommend me?

  1. Ubuntu FTW!

  2. fedora core is the best if under gnome

but why linux use mac leopard or xp or vista or tiger

  3. Linux Mint 5 (main edition)

Based on Ubuntu but pre-installed with multimedia codecs (mp3, avi etc...) and other proprietary stuff. (In other distros you must install them yourself)

You should try other distros too, though. Its fun. You should also learn some command line its not hard. Most things are graphical but there will be a point when you will have to use a little bit CLI if you use Linux, no matter what distro it is.

Don't worry about the looks you can easily change themes and icons on any distro.

  4. HA the best one yet .. is PClinuxos 2007 :) No joke ive been using it for a year and a half now after using ubuntu for a month. i tried all diffrent versions man .,. Ubuntu just has TOO much bugs and everything that came from ubuntu's family .. including the ones that were based on ubuntu ... i would recomment an RPM distro like pclinuxos and you will be breezing through it. www.pclinuxos.com TRUST me. It doesnt get easier.

  5. If this is your first linux system, I'd recommend Something from the Ubuntu family: Ubuntu, Kbuntu, etc

If you're more advanced, maybe Fedora or Mandriva

    Advanced: Gentoo, LFS

  6. Una din astea: http://www.mandriva.com/ sau http://www.pclinuxos.com/ . Nu incerca Ubuntu, poti sa-ti distrugi partitiile cu Win.
