What vertebrates should i put in my ecocolumn?

my ecocolumn has three levels:

1.terrestrial

2.decomposition

3.aquatic.i needa vertebrate to put in the terrestrial part but idont know what kind.please help.

Some critters that might not be too hard to find and pretty hardy are pillbugs.  These are isopods (Crustacea).  They live under rotting wood and in leaf litter.  When you catch them they roll up, so they're called pill bugs or roly-polys.  I believe they eat the fungi that grow on rotting wood.  Look in a wooded area under a dead branch, in a compost heap, or in a shaded back yard under a board or plank.  They are small and harmless.
