Best Video Camera thats worth buying is??

I love to make films

I'm looking for a video camera that can fulfill my need.

I need to know what camera to buy that is CHEAP, but has good quality.

BTW. I prefer small/handy-cams. I'm not into director-like cameras

a Video camera! not a Digicam.

can you also tell my why it's better than the rest? I'm planning to buy it for my friend

  1. The best video cams will take decent video and have manual audio control - audio is a huge part of film-making.

The cheapest camcorders I know that have manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9. All four of these camcorders also have a mic-in jack for external mics.

There are a couple of Canon camcorders that have a mic-in jack (ZR800 and ZR950), but they do not have manual audio control... If you are not recording loud audio, and are willing to edit out the familiar whooshing noise that comes in during really low audio (because of the automatic audio leveling circuit), then these may be good enough for you.

An... all six camcorders on this post are miniDV tape based camcorders - which means they will provide best available video quality because DV (and HDV in the case of the first four) compresses so much less than other storage types.
