I want to set up a PC to work as my dvd/blue ray player with an 1080p HDTV. I'm moving into a studio and have to combine my office and living room. I know I need a good video card but I don't know enough to order the right one, what stats should I be looking for?

  1. Well, you need to be looking for a graphics card with an HDMI port.

I have to assume that you have a PCI Express port and you know how to install this.

One option would be the NVIDIA 8800 GT. This supports HDMI so just get an HDMI cable and you're set!

  2. The type of video card will depend on the type of computer (or motherboard) you have.

You will need a Blu ray CD-ROM player as well as a better video card if you want to play blu-ray.

IF your computer is new enough, you will want a PCI-E (express) video card with HDMI or DVI out.

You might as well as go for a Dolby surrnound 7.1 sound card as well.
