  1. DO NOT clip them yourself, budgies are much smaller and harder to handle when clipping wings. also you have to know how to open their wings the correct way or you can BREAK THEIR WING (like if you broke someones arm)

also if you cut the wrong way or too short it will HURT the bird and it could BLEED TO DEATH.

you have to be trained and have to have tamed birds to clip their wings.

bring them to the pet store to have their wings clipped, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF!

but to answer your question, that video did show the right way of doing it, although that was a cockatiel not a budgie, so it wont be the same. also hers are very tame and she is trained.

never clip your own birds nails either, they can bleed to death that way also.

  2. There are a number of videos listed here:

You can watch them to become familiar with the procedure but I suggest that you locate a bird breeder or bird shop to show you how it's done.  If you grip your bird's chest, it can suffocate.  If a wing twists, the bone can break.  Clip a blood feather and you've got a bleeding problem.

Some things are better learned "hands on" - literally.

  3. it will be WAY safer to take them to a pet store or groomers and have it done professionally. it may cost a little but if it keeps your bird healthy and happy isn't it worth it? doing it by yourself could really hurt your bird. don't risk it
