I am wondering what video setting to use. I have an older model Samsung 42 in. wide screen HD monitor TV that says 1080i on it. I use component cables, as it does not have HDMI. I was experimenting last night, since the Blu Ray player has like FIVE different video settings on it. I THINK the 1080i setting was the clearest but the (?) 480 had a little better color. Which one am I supposed to use? Someone who has this player, please explain what all these settings are

  1. I would recommend you choose 720P, it is the best video quality beside 1080P.

  2. It depends on TV' s resolution.

  3. I dont have the player but in general the best setting go in the following order.

1080p (Tv must be a 1080p tv as it doesnt sound like yours does)

1080i / 720p (1080i is better for sports, action and other things tht require a faster refresh rate. 720p is considered to have a slightly better picture, but it is entirely up to you) (you said you tv says 1080i, so it will support this but it may not 720p, although it likely does)

Last, 480p/i. Your standard definition for old non-high definition tvs. You do not get a bluray player andd use this setting. You will get DVD quality at this setting.
