  1. what ever pos. they let you play.

If you dont know by know...

    should you realy be playing?

    are you that good?

  2. You could be the libero or the setter. The setter usually touches the ball  a lot because they always get the second ball. And the libero touches the ball a lot because they are usually the first to touch a ball. Plus on my school teams the setter or the libero were usually the captian.

  3. the setter should gets to touch the ball the most. they are supose to get the second ball every time. To be cap. u should cheer on everyone alot(good sportmanship) and be good player

  4. If you can set at all ( you say your a good setter) you should try to be the setter.  The setter is THE most important position for the team.  If as a hitter you don't get good sets, you can't put the ball away.  Good hitters are made great by good/great setters.  If you want to touch the ball a lot, again be the setter.  You get to touch it almost every play (you decide who gets to hit).  If you want to be the captain, most Varsity, College teams, and National level teams select the setter to be Captain.  The setter is like an extension of the coach, they decide what plays to run, they need to know what rotations you are in, they need to know who the weak player on the other team is (so you can set the right player to take advantage of the weak opponent).  Plus at 5'4"  the likelihood of you becoming a taller player is slim.  So as you advance in your level of play you will notice girls who are much taller then you who are the hitters.  But shorter players can be the setter, since they are not required to hit, they are just there to set up the teammates.

Plus I am partial to setters - I've been one for 15 years now, so I think the setter is the most unappreciated, yet most important player on the team.  You should be a setter, and stirve to be the best setter you can be.

  5. outside hitter not tall enough to be middle hitter to tall to play back row

  6. Well, if you're good at thinking and knowing where to place the ball, i would say setter.  You get to control everything and it all goes through you.

If you'd rather be more agressive and think you'll be tall, hitting will be good.

Libero or Defensive specialist are good if you're quick and have good control of your passing.

  7. you should be setter or outside hitter. its more fun to hit and both setters on my team were captain so hey it might be the spot for you

  8. well, here is kinda an over view of EVERY position

Setter- gets EVERY second ball...or usually is supposed to.  gets to help block only if it is an outside hit.  must be able to run fast (to get to a ball) and to really be a talker.  you have to call EVERY second ball, whether it be a "mine mine mine" or "help help help", you have to call it.

Middle hitter- blocks (or tries to) every ball hit on opposing team.  takes tips, (depending on the play) hits 1/2 (or maybe a few more) of the sets.

Outside hitter (left)- hits 1/2 the sets, blocks on right side hits (not very often, they only occur on a back set, which is only in higher levels, its harder than fw. setting)

Left Back- digs serves, dives.  If you like to dive, play back row.  possible back row hit

middle back- takes serves (digs), and most come to the middle area.  have to be able to move FAST and get down fast.  sometimes takes tips, may hit for a back row set.

right back- serving position (though you rotate to serve) digs, takes some tips (depending on the plays you do)

Libero- usually a defensive specialist.  they go in when it is a hard serve, or when the back row needs some help.  has to be really good at digging, and accurately passing the ball to the setter.

as for captain, it doesn't really matter which position you play, they are all of equal importance.

for your height, i would play back row.  it is easier to dig balls if you are shorter, you don't have as far to go to the ground.  depending on the height of the other girls, you might play front.  your coach will know what is best for you to play.

    hope this helped!!!!

  9. Setter is like being the quarterback of volleyball, you're in control! Go for setting, I hated it in modified but now I love it and wouldn't go for anything else in Vball.

  10. i didn't know there were certain volleyball positions..   i thought everyone rotated throughout the game.   If I were to play a position.. I'd like to be the server!  that's my fav.

  11. Being the setter is my favorite positition.  But the hitter is pretty important too.  Just choose the one you like and play the best and if you`re as good as you say you are, then have fun being captain!

  12. I play all postions. But being either a hitter or a setter you will get to touch the ball a lot. If you like really hard work and a lot of running, then be a setter( hitters have a lot or work too). The most important player is actually the setter. They have to know how all of the players play who will really put the ball down. With your height i would be a setter. You wouldn't to be like me, 5'10" and a setter. So just do your best and play hard. That should you captain

  13. Play the back row and pick up every serve. If you are able to do that and place the ball to the setter you will be invaluable to your team. Your performance teamwork and sportsmanship should help determine you being the team captain.

  14. if you want to touch the ball a lot, then you should be setter. if you want to be captain, then play hitter. hope this helps!
