What volume of physiological saline soln (,09% W/V NaCl) can be prepared from 90ml of 2.75% W/V NaCl soln?

  1. In all the dilution problems that you have to do, you can always us ethe equation:

    C1V1 = C2V2

    Substituting:

    2.75*90 = 0.09*V2

    V2 = 2.75*90/0.09

    V2 = 2750ml

    EDIT:

    I have now seen an answer from a pharmacist that the desired solution has a conc of 0.9%

    C1V1 = C2V2

    2.75*90= 0.9*V2

    V2 = 2.75*90/0.9

    V2 = 275ml


  2. Physicological saline is 0.9% not .09% BTW.

    So, (90ml)(2.75%) = (X ml)(0.9%)

    X = 275 ml
