I would like to give up my time to help people this summer. I don't really care what I do, as long as I do something. I'm a really hard working and optimistic person. I'm just looking for a list of places I could volunteer at in this question. I heard a rumor that only people over 16 can volunteer. I hope this isn't true.. Also, can you give me a short description of each task? Like, what you do at that place. For example, filing, cleaning, etc.

thanks.

  1. What a noble heart you got.  My suggestion:-  you may assist any orphanages back at home or overseas by creating their blog or photopages to promote their activities and campaign.  I believe you can make it and it will be a lot of fun.  End.

  2. If you like children, there are daycares and preschools who could use an extra pair of hands. Summer day camps for children (call your local  elementary school to see who runs yours) might be happy to have you come in and read to the 5-8 year olds. The Sunday nursery at your local church has babies and toddlers you could play with. Bigger churches need more help.

If you aren't crazy about little ones, call the library and see if they need help shelving books. Call the city hall or mayor's office to see if there is a community festival coming up that could use extra help. Call your church secretary and ask her if there are elderly or hospitalized church members who need their yard mowed or weeds pulled. Animal shelters might like someone to come in and play with the pets, or take them for walks.

Start with your heart: what do you like to do? Thank you for caring!

  3. Im 14 and go a local nursing home is fun and the hilarious!

the ppl are so sweet but its really actually busy and the people really want someone youthful to be around and treat them like a normal person. You can learn alot at a nursing home and good luck i would considerate if i was you

  4. Hospice organizations in your area will probably have fund raisers like yard sales, need mowing, cleaning done at their offices.  You can visit at nursing homes, write letters to soldiers, visit seniors you know, do a paper drive, get friends together to clean up an area of your community, walk dogs, donate old toys to shelters or Salvation Army, do random acts of kindness...make many copies of uplifting letter and place on car windshields, clean play grounds, greet the Walmart greeters with a drink and snack on a regular basis, volunteer time at local animal shelter and collect old towels, toys for the animals from neighbors and friends you know, hold a yard sale and donate proceeds to charity in area.  Do all things with safety in mind and discuss supervision, transportation and responsibilities with your parent/s first.  God bless you in your efforts.

  5. Contact the SPCA if you like animals.  They are always looking for people to socialize the animals & help out with cleaning and feeding.

Try your local food bank, go to a tutoring center, if you go to church, try asking around & see who is involved in what.

There's always United Way and the Special Olympics.  I'm not sure about ages or what they need help with, although I do know any and all help is appreciated!

    Your parents should be proud!!!
