I would like to give up my time to help people this summer. I don't really care what I do, as long as I do something. I'm a really hard working and optimistic person. I'm just looking for a list of places I could volunteer at in this question. I heard a rumor that only people over 16 can volunteer. I hope this isn't true.. Also, can you give me a short description of each task? Like, what you do at that place. For example, filing, cleaning, etc.

thanks.

  1. If you have a work permit you can work or volunteer. Go to your local employment office they usually have a summer work program for teens. You have a great heart it is so cool that you are at this age and want to give of yourself. 13 year olds can volunteer can work in nursing homes reading or helping to care for the elderly.  Often the elderly love younger people around them because they generally miss their grandchildren.  There is volunteering for the SPCA or Animals Shelter (walking dogs, cleaning out cages, etc.)  Babysitting.  Mowing lawns.  Being a dog walker for people who are unable to do so because of a disability or they are at work and need their dog walked.

Contact your local SRDA (they work with the elderly) they will definitely put you to work. Also talk to your principal about a summer reading program. Hope this helped honey you are an awesome young man with tons of integrity and ethics. Keep giving your life away and watch all that comes back to you. Youth pastors are always looking for help too. If you lived in my city you would be busy tomorrow. Take care.

  2. Help an activities coordinator at a nursing home.

Call out bingo, organize social functions, etc

  3. I think it's wonderful you're wanting to help out. I would suggest you try your local nursing homes and ask them if you can be a foster grandchild. The elder folks would love it if you came and read to them as sometimes their families put them in there and dont visit often and they get very lonely. You could just simply visit them and talk with them and make their days brighter. You will make quite a few new friends and learn a lot from them. :)

  4. You have a world of opportunities in front of you!

If you want to try something organized, contact your local hospital or local nonprofits.  Almost every local service organization could use an extra pair of hands at their next fundraiser, whether it's handing out water at the walk-a-thon or becoming a mentor.

If you belong to a church, volunteer your services for whatever they would like you to do.  An extra bonus with this is getting to be around (hopefully spiritually mature) people who can speak into your life and really encourage you about your future.

Also, ask your elderly neighbors or that mom with the two toddlers if you can rake their leaves, sweep or shovel their walk, clean out their gutters, or carry their groceries.

If you are talented at a craft or sport, make sure to find an expert who is giving lessons to small kids in those areas, and volunteer your services to help the kids learn.

    Bless you!
