What wage should ask for when applying at local Machine Shops?

I'm looking to get a job in the manufacturing field and I was wondering what to ask for as a starting wage.

I graduated from a trade high school (in 2005) with a certificate in Manufacturing Technology. I have 3 years of working experience in other machine shops, I know basic geometry, and I'm 20 years old.

With so many trade jobs being lost, should I even stay with the manufacturing trade? Is it now a gamble or still a secure job field?

At least 15 dollars an hour. I would say more but with tough times 15 is good.
