What war was going on in 1997?

I think it had to do with the 'Redcoats' and a little island off of Africa... Any ideas?

I believe it is the Yugoslavian war or the crisis in Kosovo, the war between the Serbs and the Bosnians which affected the entire area.

It had to do with religion and unfortunately hatred.

It led to the genocide of many Bosnians.

Unfortunately this conflict still exists.

I can only think that this is what you are thinking of unless you mean 1897 which would have been a different war as in 1997 there are no "Redcoats" I am British so I would know if we still refered to our military as that.
