  1. Define wars.  I once saw a Un.org document that said there are close to 90 CONFLICTS around the world at any given time: conflicts in which people are killed over ethinc, territorial or economic reasons.

For example, we have less-than-peaceful relations between

    North and South Korea

The Basque region between France and Spain

    Tibet and China

    Taiwan and China

China and its western neighbors (all Muslim)

Afghanistan: tribal wars between ethinc groups

Iraq: Sunnis hating Shias hating Sunnis

    Nepal and civil strife

    Darfur

    Liberia

    Palestine and Israel

    Israel and southern Lebanon

    Turkey and its Kurds

    Russia and Georgia

    Mexico and its native peoples

    Colombia and Peru

China and its western Muslim Uighers

    Pakistan and India over Jammu-Kashmir

    Myanmar (Burma) and civil war

    Sudan and its Muslim-Christian peoples

    Serbia and Kosovo

    Chad and its peoples

    Greece and Turkey

There are more.  Most of these are short but long-lived conflicts that result in sporadic violence and where peace is non-existent.

  2. russia georgia

  3. between diff countries?

    Russia vs. Georgia

US vs. Remnants of Taliban and al-Queda

I know that tensions are high between Somalia (the fighters in a group there) and Ethiopia...I'm not sure if fighting is continuing, b/c I haven't gotten much news recently but i'm sure things aren't peaceful.

India in a continual war with Pakistan- Kashmir area that they are fighting to gain.

  4. You need the "CONFLICT BAROMETER 2007" from HEIDELBERG INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL CONFLICT RESEARCH at the Department of Political Science, University of Heidelberg.

    Here's the summary.

    Sub-Saharan Africa - Wars

    --------------------------------------

Somalia (UIC) - system/ideology, national power

Sudan (Darfur) - regional predominance, resources

    Asia and Oceania - Wars

    -----------------------------------

Pakistan (North and South Waziristan) - regional predominance

    Sri Lanka (LTTE) - secession

The Middle East and Maghreb - Wars

    --------------------------------------...

Afghanistan (Taliban) - system/ideology, national power

Iraq (insurgents) - system/ideology, national power
