Question:

What was Dale Jr thinking?

Why did he just blow by all those cars? I'll admit I thought it was a legal move but when I found out it wasn't I was still surprised that NASCAR decided to penalize him. It was kind of funny though but did he not know the rule or what?

  1. he was trying to cheat, but he isn't as good at it as JGR.

  2. He was not thinking or he wouldn't have done something so stupid. I like JR but I don't know what's wrong with him lately.

  3. Dale Jr? Thinking? I don't see the link...

  4. I'm not sure what he was thinking, but I have to question the spotters, and the crew chief, as well. I mean it wasn't as if the green waved, and immediately he crossed the start/finish line. Where were they on the radio telling him not to pass anybody? It's not just Ralph's fault, it's a team thing.

Which begs the question, (even though he is in 3rd in the overall standings, and running very well for the year), why does it seem like this is one of the most disconnected teams in Sprint Cup?

NASCAR had to penalize him, it was a blatent foul. Imagine all the Busch fans complaining just as loudly as Busch did after the race, if they didn't send him a lap down.......

Oh, by the way, what a classy move by Busch to hit Edwards, eh?

  5. I thought it was pretty funny but I was surprised he didn't wreck when it was all said and done since a couple of times it looked like was gonna wreck.

  6. DUMB

  7. Maybe he thought he had crossed the line already. That was pretty wierd though.

  8. I'm not sure. I'm a fan, but it was a bonehead move.

The funniest was one of the commentators in the booth, not sure if it was Rusty or not, saying...."you can pass as many cars as you want after you get past the start finish line, but not before''.....dugh, ya think?! I don't think we really needed that pointed out to us.

  9. I think that Dale Jr. is starting to feel the pressure of the expectations of his performance. Although he is consistent in the points, the spectacular marriage with Hendrick hasn't produced the fireworks that everyone on the planet almost was expecting to see.

Drivers are performers. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is supposed to be the star. He knows this and may be feeling frustrated because of how the season has gone- Kyle and Carl are stealing the show going into the chase.

  10. His mind was probably else where. But where?

Maybe he was thinking about a big party he's got planned tomorrow on his off day. Or thinking about his true love... that ice cold beer waiting for him in the fridge.

He definitely had his mind elsewhere, wherever it was.

  11. Dale Jr doesnt think, think does Dale Jr!!

  12. In his defence, that is a legal move in most nascar starts, just not the very first start of the race.  In restarts (which happen much more often) it is legal.   Still a dumb move, but I can understand how it could happen.  Can't remember the last time I've seen that penalty though, and he did seem to have a fast car, though probably not a contender for the win.  Boneheaded move, but we all make mistakes.

P.S.  Why does nascar not standardize starts?  why are starts at the beginning of races restricted more than restarts?  Choose one set of rules or the other!

  13. He wasn't thinking......was indeed strange.  why were you surprised nascar penalized him?  That is normal penalty for that....they should let it go for Jr.?
