What was Girardi thinking?

Question

Bases loaded, top of the 7th, 5-2 game 1 out. He had just pinch hit Giambi who drew a walk for the 8 hitter Molina and needed to pinch hit for the 9 hitter Christian and pinch run for the tying run at first base. He has on his bench: Melky Cabrera, Wilson Betemit, and Ivan Rodriguez.

So what does he do? He pinch runs with Pudge, the slowest of them all at first base as the tying run, and pinch hits with Melky, who is the worst batter on the bench and is hitting .240 on the season and .225 since May.

So he pinch runs with his slowest guy, and pinch hits with his worst bat? Even if he needs a catcher and CF next inning, why wouldn't he just pinch hit Pudge and pinch run Melky? Wouldn't that make a lot more sense?

hey by cool, I take offense to  your comment, the rangers are a good team, pitching needs some work, but they are still in the wild card chase, I do believe just 1 1/2 behind your stupid yankees, they still have 2 more games to play with the yankees, so watch out.

You know what isn't questionable about that game?  The outcome.  Rangers win 8-6.
