What was God's old promise? What is God's new promise?

God gives His promises in pieces that build upon one another.  There isn't an old and new promise per se.  

The promise He made to Noah is older than the one He made to Abraham but that doesn't mean the one to Noah is out-of -date and therefore, no longer applicable.
