Question:

What was McCain trying to say by picking Palin?

McCain met Palin ONCE before picking her for VP. Then he recently talked to her on the phone and offered her the job. What does this impulsive pick say about his judgment, or lack thereof? Doesn't this imply that McCain isn't making the decisions in his campaign, his surrogates are making them for him? They're not even giving him a chance to make the important decisions, like his VP.

  1. He's losing it..in more ways than  ONE

  2. it needs repeating

hes McChimp, he has hard ons for models and beauty pageants.  He doesnt care about a womens brain for VP otherwise he would have choose the other more qualified ones.

    First wife-ex model

    present wife-ex beauty pageant

    Sarah Palin-ex beauty pageant

  3. Apparently you have not read this woman's bio.  She is the mother of 5 children.  Her last one is only a few months old and has downs syndrome.  She knew this prior to the birth but does not believe in abortion.

She was in the military.  Her oldest son will deploy to Iraq next month.  She became the mayor of a city at 32 years old.  She then defeated the incumbent governor of Alaska.  She cleaned up the corrupt members of her own party within the state.  She was the head of the energy ethics commission and cleaned up the good ole boys network.

She refused the funds for the notorious bridge to nowhere.  Alaska now has a surplus because she mandated a balanced budget.  She has an 80% approval rating even after her investigation about her brother in law.  She is considered a bit of a hero in Alaska.  She has been a lifelong member of the NRA.

She has never been a Washington insider.  She has more executive experience than either Obama, Biden, or McCain.  She is the only one with any record of actual governing.  She will probably be president one day.  I would say this woman will never be anybody's puppet.

  4. That he thinks American women are stupid.

  5. Clearly a Carl Rove strategy....She is very ultra-conservative. He probably wants that base to believe he is more conservative than they thought. The only Hillary supporters he will get is those who just want a woman elected er-regards to the consequences. They are not even close to being alike besides there anatomy. NO, I personally, could never support a woman who would not support a woman's right to chose even with circumstances such as rape and incest. NO way!

  6. Hmm I was thinking he picked her so he can appeal to some of the Hilary voters.

  7. It says that you and andrewsullivan have no clue on the process that is normal for selecting a senior manager.

She has been betted since February

I doubt there was anything McCain didn't know about her before he met her.

I suggest when you get done school and apply for a job, you will find a similar process except fo the 6months of having everything about your life, your families life  all th e people you have dealt with in your life being investigates.

Why are do you people want to come off sounding so stupid uis beyond me

  8. i think this was a pretty good choice for mccain. the woman is more experienced than obama, and he may get some of hilary's votes.

    who knows?

he's a smart guy, i'm sure he had some great reason.

  9. I don't think he was TRYING to say it but he did.

"Getting elected is more important to me than doing the right thing for America."

People can make all sorts of arguments, or bring up the other side, but they cannot claim Palin was the best choice for America (or even on the top 5); the best Republican to become President if the VP is required to.

McCain did not make a patriotic choice, he made a political choice.  That's undeniable.

  10. McCain is puppet, look at him in 2000 and now, thats why he will not win.

  11. The premise of the question is very good in terms of the judgment issue, In the most important decision that McCain had to make, he made a very poor judgment here,. He is 72 and has had skin cancer, he should have chosen someone with more experience. He could have selected many wonderful candidates in the Republican Party, there was Rudy Guilliani, Mitt Romney, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Palenty, Colin Powell, all of these individuals and more would have brought experience, judgment, and above all, they could be president and NO one would have had a bad word about these individuals, there are others but, I do not need to name them all. Moreover, this pick seems to have been chosen for political reasons and  I believe it was a throw of the dice, I think that as the dust settles and people think about this it will hurt McCain, I do not understand why he did this, he was tied with Obama and doing well, this in my view was a very poor call.

  12. That he is a misogynistic pig. Hillary supporters are not going to flock to him because he chose Palin. And if Obama had chosen Clinton over Biden then McCain would have never thought of Palin. But that just goes to show you how much beloved McCain cares about this country. In the event of a crisis what will she do? Their is no way that he is getting my vote and if this country is unwise enough to put dumb and dumber in the white house... I'll just wish you all the best of luck with that one.

  13. The decision was clearly a desperate ploy.  He wants to get the women voters who originally wanted Hillary and he's hoping to mobilize the Christian right, which he has failed to do so far.  I think his choice will be his downfall.
