What was “The War”

Question

The war was arguably the greatest ever boxing match. It was a golden era for super-welterweights and they contested some great battles. The most memorable was Tommy Hearns v Marvellous Marvin Hagler. This became known as the war because of the fierce intensity both fighters showed. The first round is regularly voted the best round of boxing of all time, both pugilists come flying out the corner and tear into each other. Eventually Hagler took it in the third round.
