  1. Vee An did a good job from a Vietnamese point of view but left out a few that Foreign conqueors used. like French Indo China and Anam, Tongking (as in the gulf of Tonking) and for a while the Saigon area and the toe of Vietnam was called Lower Cochin China. and vietnam itself Cochin China.

    257 BC - 179 BC: Âu Lạc

    179 BC - 540: falling to China's ruling

    541 - 602: Vạn Xuân

    602 - 905: falling to China's ruling

    938 - 967: won back the independence from China, the King was Ngo Quyen, the country's name was still Vạn Xuân, but I'm not very sure.

    968 - 1009: Đại Cồ Việt

    1009 - 1400: Đại Việt

    1400 - 1407: Đại Ngu

    1407 - 1427: falling to China's ruling again

    1804 - 1820: Việt Nam

    1820 - 1945: Đại Nam
