  1. A lot was happening in 1500s England!  First, Henry VII reigned, then his son, Henry VIII.  After him came his son, Edward, who died young.  He was succeeded first by Lady Jane Grey, who was only Queen for nine days, then the rightful heiress, Queen Mary I (or Bloody Mary) reigned for a few years.  After her came the long reign of Elizabeth I.

    During Henry VIII's reign, there was the King's Great Matter, which changed England's religion forever from Catholicism to Protestantism, though it took time.

    There were all kinds of jobs and trades.  The nobility didn't work unless they were diplomats, etc.  There were merchants who engaged in trade.  The poor were always useful for labouring, the army and navy, cleaning, laundering, tailoring, building, making shoes, etc.  There are some of the worst jobs listed below.
