What was he thinking!?

As I sit here and watch Dale trying to race his way back to the front I am thinking. What was Tony thinking??????? Not only may he have lost the race for Jr (again) but also 2 points positions!!!!!! I haven't wanted to bash acrew cheif as I couldn't do the job but this seemed like a nobrainer here and now Jr is fighting to get back what Tony just took!!! Is it time to cut some family ties and realize it may be your crew cheif thats costing you?

I dont normally like to bash Eury Jr, but today was just ridiculous. Anybody who knows anything about road course racing could see that Jr was playing with fire by staying out like he did. h**l, I thought Jr and Johnson stayed out too long the first time they came down pit road, around lap 28-30. But, to top it off, Jr had the chance to dip onto pit road when Kvapil went sliding through the gravel. They had to have known that the caution was going to be thrown, as it was thrown earlier for Hornish doing the exact same thing.

And, I still dont understand what Eury Jr was attempting to say when they interviewed him on the pit box awhile later. "Today is just one of those races"? Yea, its called a road course. They happen, oh I dont know, twice a year or so.... As much as I like their relationship and how they can banter back and forth with each other and not get their feelings hurt like some other crew chief/driver combos in the past, a change at least has to be considered.

What was Tony Jr thinking?  Well he wasn't thinking, this is another Tony Jr F-UP..this isn't a oval Tony its a road course, I think he needs to re-take Hendrick 101 again....I'm pissed big time. They normally work great together, but this sucks, and Dale Jr is back to 4th in the points, Bad, Bad, Bad call Tony Jr..but he is family and Dale Jr will forgive him. Not me. I'm not that forgiving. You better get it together at Michigan.

thats when jr had the car to beat were he would just check out and be like see ya boys   not have 2 gamble on a fule win but a win is a win but i wanna see jr when a race were no one had good enough car to beat him like the Coke Cola 600 this year we all know jr had that race won

Unfortunately today made it painfully obvious that Eury Jr just isn't cut out to be a Cup Series crew chief. Dale Jr did his best when his uncle was calling his shots...you didn't hear him talk to Big Eury like he does to Little Eury!

I think Tony Sr needs to be in the Cup series as Dale crew chief and Tony Jr needs to go back to the Nationwide Series and get a little more experience.

Interesting, I answered two other questions about Tony Eury Jr. yesterday (Sunday)

I was defending him, he's human and he makes mistakes. I don't think Tony Eury Jr.'s a bad crew chief, I stand by that, he gives Jr. good cars to start every race with. But maybe they'd both fair better with someone else.

Those other two answers along with a few others over the last couple of days were uncharacteristically spiteful coming from me. That's why I stopped at two, and that's why I didn't answer yours. I don't ever want to seem spiteful in answering a question posted by you.

After alot of consideration, taking in all sides, and being open-minded  enough to realize I may have been wrong, I think it may in fact be a good thing for them to sever ties.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind seeing Jr. win a championship during his career, just not in 2008!!
