I borrowed a recent book by Tina Brown on the late Diana, Princess of Wales. What was it about her that still inspires people to continue to write, buy and read about her?

  1. Camilla was not proper to be Charles' wife, so the Queen and Charles set about finding someone they could pass off to the public and who would be naive enough to let Charles continue his fling with Camilla.  They felt Diana was the perfect foil.  And she came into the marriage thinking that it was a match made in heaven, only to learn within days that she had been duped.  But rather than sit back and quietly take it, as the royals had expected, she came out fighting.  She was not in awe of the royal family, as they wanted her to be.  She stood up to them and turned the monarchy on it's ear.  She demanded to be treated well, and when she wasn't, she divorced Charles and set about making a life for herself and her sons.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and royal until they made it impossible for her to continue to live out the farce that was her marriage.  And through it all, even though her personal life was in shambles, she continued to serve others, putting their needs before her own.  While most people would have been collapsing under the strain, she poured energy into making the world a better place.

  2. To be A Princess of Wales has always been a matter of interest itself for people.

BUT APART FROM THAT- as for as Diana is concern she was something special because of some mysteries related with her.

The most interesting about her is her life history. How from a simple family she became a princess is a dramatic story.

    Secondly she was a pretty.

    Third her separation after marriage.

  3. Nothing about her captured my interest when she was alive and I still feel the same way.

  4. people's princess!

  5. Rags to riches.  A woman who became royalty from being common and treated everyone as if they were royalty.  People will not forget someone that lives like that- especially in the face of a tragic death as she suffered.  There is a portion of the population that are drawn towards things of Diana because of the "conspiracy" surrounding her death.

    Just my 2 cents.

  6. She was beautiful, stylish, modern and caring.Diana had empathy, and was able to reach out to many people and connect. The other royals, with the exception of the late Queen Mother, were not able to do so.

Diana's story is readable and captures the attention, from her parents' horrible divorce,to her capturing but not keeping a prince's attention. In short, her life had drama, pathos, joy and tragedy, the ingredients of a good story!  I have  studied the royals(starting with Edward VII and Alexandra, too bad Diana didn't read about them before getting married) and have many books, particularly about Diana, who came out in a media-driven age.Her royal life was lived out in the eyes of the media. And,to an extent, she let the media into her life so the world could see her work as well as the lie of her marriage.

Diana was fascinating, both saint and sinner,a woman capable of doing the kindest and meanest of things. She was,in her brother's words,"the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Diana."

  7. She was a very innocent very beautiful and good natured person as well as a great Mom. I think Prince Charles or big ears is an idiot to let her be treated like he treated her. Camilla was an old maid looking thang and still is.I think this generation will be very lucky to have even known of Diana and i hope her boys kep her goodness alive

and Count Dimera and Moyra D r blind and deaf and r idiots

  8. the kindness of her heart

  9. She was beautiful and kind.  She was in a poor marriage with someone we lost respect for.  She was like an ignored child in many ways.  She strongly pursued the rights of people in war torn countries who were still being maimed by mines that the US and others still sell by the millions.  She was strong enough to stand up against arms manufacturers and will sadly remembered for having done so but having not breached the hearts of those making millions upon the deaths of others.

  10. Its not "her" its her aura if you will. If you ask me, she wasnt any better than anyone else. You cant convince me that she was the "good one" and Charles was "the bad one"

What people think they know and love about her is just an illusion that the media and her image makers created. She just somehow got better press and came out of things always looking like she was on top.

  11. Beauty and compassion, a lack of snobbery.  Charles admitted on global TV that he only used her for a brood mare, that he never loved her and always loved Camilla.  So he should have left Diana alone.  He also admitted to being with Camilla the night before his wedding to Diana.

No rags to riches or commoner.  Go to Wikipedia, into the royal family tree.  Diana Spencer goes back to the Tudors, Camilla, Charles, and Diana are cousins.

  12. She was what we call a "People's Princess" she was never afraid to be around people who were not royal. She was very inspiring in who she was, her personality.

  13. she was beautiful and compassionate. she was mysterious too, she just had what ever it was that kept us intrigued and even she did not know why, but she did.

  14. Her nose.
