  1. if you were a hew you would be shot or sent to a death camp if you were polish you would probly join the resistance or partizans

  2. Much depended upon where one was living!  In the US of A it was an exciting time - - -  with Dad and older brothers & sisters off to War, a 13 or 14 year old Boy became the Man of the House.  Unike slackers circa 2008, children stepped up to the plate and did their share of the work.  No one was gonna cry 'child labor laws' if a 14 or 15 year old 'manned' the counter at a local diner or bicycled messages around town.  Girls bennifited as well, finding themselves employed in a variety of ways; rolling bandages at the Red Cross, looking in on Seniors needing care & attention, pressed into duty as air wardens and crossing guards.

Some teens lied about their age and those who were most clever changed age 16 to age 18 and 'lied' their way into the armed services and fought in the war.  Others who were caught lying, were often deemed old enough to go to work in war factories at age 16 and many found themselves jumpstarting their careers.  Actually the idea that a person is utterly useless until they hit age 21 is a modern phenom thus during the war years no one gave it a lot of grief if a 14 or 15 or so year old worked at a garage pumping gas or even doing mechanic work under the guidance of an older man.

The same can be said of Britain - - - - by age 13 one was old enough for farm chores, running messages, pumping gas, air wardens, etc....  Same for Girls - -- - -- actually Britain has always had a tradition of women working despite what gets said and with men off fighting the war, women were valuable.  Teenage girls did farm work, rolled bandages, delivered messages, etc.

On the Continent, teenagers were often employed by the resistance fighters - -- --- there a teenager was often fighting for his or her country.  Actually what could be a teenage curse, looking years younger, worked to ones advantage.  A 'beardless' youth who looked like he was ten but was actually 15 was less likely to arouse suspicion and thus could literally get away with murder!!  Teenagers are often smaller than adults thus able to wiggle thru holes in fences or crawl through sewers thus in France & Holland an adult resistance fighter would often put a teenager to work sneaking bombs into railroad yards & other places 'protected' by barbed wire.  A few simple instructions, a brave teen, and "BAMM" another ammunittions train bites the dust.

In Germany teenagers were usally members of the Hitler Youth and therefore they spent their time learning to become soldiers and many were fighting by age 14 or so especially during the final year of the war.

In Russia a mixture of the USA/Britain and Germany - - - work for some, fighting for others much depending upon 'luck.'
