  1. I don't believe the Bible states the last name of Joseph and Mary. If they even had one.

Btw, his last name was not Christ. Christ is a title.

    He was Jesus the Christ.

  2. Jesus Christ

  3. Jesus Buddy Christ.

  4. Jesus actually had two names, HIS natural,so to speak, name was Jesus bar Joseph and His heavenly name is Jesus, the christ of God, the son of the living God and a few dozen more.

  5. His full name was Jesus.

He was also known as 'The Christ', but that was not his name.

He was also known as the son of Joseph, but that was simply an identifying mark.

    His name was Jesus.

  7. Hi, Goat:

Jesus told us His name at the burning bush, I AM, but a definitive one is given by the Father Himself in Isaiah  9:6

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED:  Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

9:7   Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

And the "end of the days" Bible code proves He is the Messiah: http://abiblecode.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

  8. Jesus was His name, and as a poorer Jew in the Holy Land, he would not have had a last name, but rather have been called Jesus of Nazareth, or Jesus ben Joseph (only the Aramaic name).  Christ is His name after resurrection.  Historical reference--that is how people were referenced in those days.  He was not a Roman citizen, so couldn't claim any other name.

  9. Back then, people did not have "first and last names".  People would simply go by one name. Sometimes, to clarify who you were talking about, you might say the name of the person's hometown, like "Jesus of Nazareth". Or you might give the name of the father, like "Jesus, son of Joseph". Or you might give a person's trade, like "Jesus, the carpenter."

Of course, his actual name was not "Jesus." That is a Greek version of the hebrew name that we normally call "Joshua" in english. Since the New Testament was written in Greek, the writers used the Greek form of his name. But no one would have called him that during his lifetime.

The actual hebrew name (which we call Joshua in English) is Yeshua, as an earlier poster has stated. Yeshua ben Yusef is " Joshua son of Joseph".

PS:  "Christ" is a title, not a name. "Jesus Christ" is Greek for "Joshua the annointed", or "Yeshua the messiah".

  10. Jesus Alvarez Pierro

That was the name of my gardener.

  11. Jesus Rodriguez Christ

  12. Uhmmm...Jesus Christ.

    No emotion there.

  13. Yeshua ben Yusef

  14. Jesus Hussein Christ.

  15. The historical references are that all men born in Jesus's area in His time, had the "surname" that meant "son of" their father.

Since as far as the government knew, Joseph was Jesus's father, he would have been known as Jesus son of Joseph, or closer to their native pronunciation, Yeshua ben Yusef.

"ben" meant 'son of,' and "Yusef" is an English approximation of an Aramaic pronunciation of the name "Joseph."
