  1. Sadly King George III suffered from a rare disorder (can't remember the name of it right now), that his kidneys were not filtering his system, causing some dementia (his urine was purplish). But by the time this was discovered and they cleaned him up, the colonies were a done deal and on their way to independence. Timing is everything in life.

  2. The turning point in George III's life was when his ministers tried to recoup some of the loses incurred by the French and Indian Wars by taxing the American Colonies.  Such actions resulted in the American Revolutionary War, which George pursued with great vehemence against the advice of his ministers, ultimately loosing the United Kingdom the United States.

By the way, King George suffered from porphyria.

  3. When he lost control of the American Colonies after the American War of Independence in 1776.

  4. George III turning point in life was probably when many of its American colonies were soon lost in the American Revolutionary War, which led to the establishment of the United States. George was hated in Ireland for the atrocities carried out in his name during the suppression of the 1798 rebellion. In addition, during George's reign the realms of Great Britain and Ireland were joined, forming the United Kingdom.
