I used to think she was selfish and overly decadent but after learning that she didn't really say "let them eat cake" I'm wondering what kind of person she really was. can you tell me or give me links??

  1. She was an incredibly strong person. She was not overly fond of the King and was desperately homesick. The French people never took to her and often referred to her as the "Austrian w**re". Reviews of her are generally very unfair. The film is quite good but I wouldn't exactly but my faith in it.

  2. although unfortunate as it seems, she wasan ill-educated and naive archduchess and unprepared to become a queen or at least a consort of nobility. her childhood consisted of her mother maria theresa being too busy with political affairs because she was involved in the seven years war at the time of her childhood. so education was neglected and she did not learn how to be a proper "political" wife. as a child she was engaged in trivial activities that were to please the senses. this she carried until adulthood and it ultimately embittered the french and resulted in the revolution and her decapitation. i know that some accounts of her are exaggerated and i felt sorry for her when they accused her of molesting with her son (come on thats just tacky).

despite that i admire marie antoinette and her mother maria theresa (even though she may have very well signed her daughter's death warrant).

  3. Well, she is one of the most interesting women in the worlds history and so there are many things written about her.

There is one exceptionally good and entertaining biography of her:by Fraser, Antonia (2001). Marie Antoinette, The Journey.

Yes,yes, a biography can also be fun to read.

here are some reviews about it:

But if you don't feel like reading right now, you could check out the movie.

It is a 2006 biography film written and directed by Sofia Coppola about the life of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France.

    I hope I helped you:)

Oh and I forgot the movie is  a retelling of France's iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette from her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 15 to her reign as queen at 19 and to the end of her reign as queen and ultimately the fall of Versailles and in the main roles are: Kirsten Dunst

    Jason Schwartzman and Judy Davis

Kirsten is really good in this movie, perfect for the role!
