  1. There has been many civil wars, which one are you refering to ?

  2. Nothing, it gave new meaning to barbarism, especially rape, pillage and burn.  On our continent?  Unbelievable!

  3. LOL

    Wow... this is just... wow...

  4. it was one nation divided, not two separate nations.

  5. They call it the CIVIL war because of the fact it was a war fought between two parts of a country, and not fought between two countries. The two sides of the war were supposed to be one force and agree on the same things, or in other words, being CIVIL with each other. But since they weren't they call it the CIVIL war because a once civil country started a war with two parts of it against each other. They don't really mean it in a way that meant it was a peaceful war. They mean it in a way that tells that a once CIVIL country had a war where two parts of it's self were fighting against each other.

  6. everyone said "excuse me" before they killed someone

  7. Civil war "battles among fellow citizens or within a community" first recorded 1387 (in England, the 17c. struggle between Parliament and Charles I; in U.S., the War of Secession, 1861-1865).

  8. This is really adorable. In a sad, sad way. Unless you are 8 or younger, this is not OK. A "Civil War" is when a country fights against itself - in America's case - North vs. South. Other countries have had civil wars too. It has nothing to do with being polite.

  9. The Civil War was the first "Total War", which in an extremely simple explanation of a highly complicated term, means that each side will do whatever it can to win. It was the first war to use trenches (this surprised me too when I learned it).

  10. Civil war means a war inside a country. There have been several civil wars throughout history. The Boshin war in Japan in the 1880s between the imperial forces and the Tokugawa shogun. The US Civil war between the southern states and northern states fought out of secession. The Spanish Civil War in 1930s fought between the Republicans and the Socialists under Franco. The English Civil War was fought between the Royalists under Charles I against Roundheads under Cromwell. Civil war means a war fought among the people of a state. the word civil refers to citizens

  11. It was a country fighting itself.

  12. i think its called civil war because it was between the north and south so one country fighting which makes it civil i think . hope i helped.

  13. i guess the fight was a big one

  14. cicil means your people and a civil war is like fighting yourself

  15. uuuh.... let me think when it says civil it means it was aganst its own country which it was!

  16. lol, good one. civil, in this sense, means pertaining to the country (or also city or state)

  17. It drew mostly on "civilians" as cannon fodder - both sides (a bloodbath - nothing "civil"-ized about it    EDIT: PCGHO... "the word: "civil" refers to "civilians' not "citizens"

  18. In this case , I think civil is referring to the definition of citizens

  19. That is a very good question never thought about it like that before. But its within the same country and I'm glad the north bet the south in the US I'm not from the US but the south are just weird!
