Does anyone remember in the first set when they hit the ball three times and then the umpire said "let" and they just kind of walked to their chairs and Venus won the game? What was that about?

  1. the umpire called let because serena hit the ball and yelled a big NOOO thinking it was going out. However, the ball landed on the line. the umpire called let because the scream in his opinion was a distraction to venus. serena in the spirit of sportsmanship however conceded the point. Venus actually was protesting the umpire's call not knowing serena has conceded.

  2. Vincent is correct. Serena yelled out during the point even though the ball was still in play. Venus was going to win the point anyway but the chair umpire called it a let. It was Serena's fault that play was stopped so in the end they all agreed that it was Venus' point.

  3. He actually overruled the linesperson and said "out." for Serena's ball.
