this is based on the clothing of the texas polygamist group in texas. i think there is a possiblility that after generations of "

keeping it in the family" this group has been lost by social evolution and this may be a look into a part of our american history

  1. In the 1800's, people were generally married in the late teens to early twenties, with men usually being older than the woman they married - maybe 20 for women and 23 for men or thereabouts.

It was actually extremely uncommon to marry as a child back then, more was understood about sexual maturity then (though nowhere near as much as we do now) and there was more stress on education and establishment in society, so men would be expected to have a job and be educated before they ask a woman to marry them, and women were expected to be "adults" that could sew, cook, clean and be of assistance to their husband.

I think that marriage as children (young, young teen wives typically married either to very young men or older men) was more common in the Middle Ages and Renaissance period, and it does still happen even in modern society but over time it became more and more uncommon, and even now it's mostly because of family lines, territorial/ruling class reasons (something along the lines of: a 4 year old princess marries a 13 year old prince from a neighboring territory so combine the lands or whatever).
