  1. being a padres fan there isnt that many memorable news in the past few years......but the worst was when tony gwynn retire......

  2. I'm still waiting for mine...Cubs win the world series!

  3. It was 1956, I believe, and I was working hard lowering the ceilings in my parents home shortly before leaving for my pre-induction physical.  I wasn't even a baseball fan, but it was the world's series and I was listening on the radio (before TV) and heard the Dodgers when they defeated the Yankees.  The reaction even on the radio was so great that I felt as pumped as if a war had been won.  But I don't even remember the players.  Names like Berra, Stengel, DiMaggio, Rizzuto come back, and that catcher who became paralyzed (Roy Campanella), but I wasn't really a fan and don't remember.  I've watched other series but that was the big one, the first one for me.  The nature of the news media was such then that hero worship seemed to be easier.  "Then felt I like some watcher of the skies when a new planet swims into his ken."

  4. Barry Bogus Not Being Offered A Contract This Past Offseason

  5. Barry Bonds not being picked up over the winter and up until now. I hope he's out of baseball and given an ineligibilty for the hall!! It's a disgrace to do all the lying and cheating. If he would have come clean, I would have still cheered for him.

  6. Josh Hamilton joining the Rangers.

  7. White Sox go 11-1 in playoffs as they sweep Astros after leading division wire to wire to win World Series!

  8. Cardinals beat the heavily-favored Detroit Tigers in the 2006 World Series.

  9. For urstruly, the best moment for Padres fans was when Barry went out of play. He was a beast against them. Or when Brazelton was demoted. Or Hensley. So on, so on. The best I've ever gotten was probably that Rocco Baldelli would be coming back soon

  10. As a Cubs fan you don't get great news too often.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get to hear the Cubs win the World Series this season.

  11. "The New York Yankees. World Champions. Team of the decade. Most successful franchise of the century!"

    - Bob Costas, as Chad Curtis caught the final out of the 1999 World Series as the Yankees swept the Atlanta Braves.

  12. It hasn't happened yet.  I am of course speaking of the day when Fernando Rodney is no longer wearing the old English D.

  13. The Mets getting Johan Santata last winter.

  14. Babe Ruth Traded To The Yankees For 72 Grand!!!!!!!!!!!
