What was the best gift you got for the new baby?

So, I am trying to come up with a superb new baby gift for my cousin. (Perhaps with the theme 08-08-08 because the baby was born today!) Anyways... I remember my favorite gift was a clothes basket filled with all sorts of different things you need for a baby. I was wondering what kind of cool gifts you have gotten and/or suggestions. (The baby is a girl!)

The best gift I got was a scrapbook that was made personally by a friend of the family. I love it and I know that a lot of time and love were put into the making of the pages. You know, today is the opening ceremony of the Olympics...maybe you could incorporate that into some sort of cool gift :)

yeah I got one of those baskets too! diapers and wipes are wonderful and a mirror for in the car so you can see them in the backseat...i love that thing! and a play gym that lays on the floor for when they are a little older. love it.

A baby calendar or a baby book.  I never had the money to go out and buy one so I was thrilled when I received one.

Also - baby keepsakes.  My mom got me when I had my daughter, this cute ceramic picture frame that included paper and an ink pad.  I was able to footprint my daughter's foot.  I will always cherish that.  It's a This little piggy kind of themed picture frame.  Too cute.  Those are the presents I liked getting.  Yes the clothes were cute and diapers were nice, but the momentos are even better.

well it wasnt for the birth of my daughter, it was for her baptism.

my sister, her godmother, paid for and arranged portrait sessions for my daughter. so thoughtful, so original, and so precious.

I really liked the pack and play that was also a bassinet/ changing table. Also, diapers. I loved the diapers and it saved me a lot probably.

Diapers and wipes are always appreciated, but some people are picky about brands. It can be tough on baby's skin to use different types of wipes, etc.

    The best thing you could ever buy your cousin for her baby is a baby sling. I got mine at babyslingpro.com although you can find them all over the web and in stores. It is absolutely the one baby item I cannot go without. It is great for the house, going to the store, exercising, and everything in between. Seriously, look into one. She will love it!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite was also a basket filled with things, I found that it was a huge help to have a stock up on diapers, wipes, shampoo, baby wash, powder, lotion, tylenol, mylicon drops, files and clippers, nose suctioner lol, therometer,...yeah basically all the little things that you wont know you need them..until YOU NEED THEM lol and running to the store is the last thing you want to do. I just found it SO helpful to not have to go out and buy things right in the middle of me learning how to be a Mommy LOL-my family got me a ton of things..I was SO thankful! The diaper champ works GREAT too. It's in my room, because me and my son share a room and I cant smell a thing! My son really loves this blanket that I got him from Babies R Us, it is soft on one side and the other, is silky...He LOVES it. It's his nighttime blanket lol
