The other day, me and my friend got stuck in mud, up to the knees. We got completely stuck. There were 2 other people there, but they couldn't rescue us without getting stuck themselves. What should have been our plan of attack?

  1. Spread your weight and push your knees foreward so the pressure is taken off your feet, then alternate trying to lift the feet out lifting the heel first ( reduces the suction). You get dirty but what the h**l you must be there already.

I used to ride Enduro (cross country bike races) allways getting stuck in big bogs except I had 116kg machine to pull out too.

Got stuck in quicksand once up to the waist...that did require assistance. lol

  2. Take off some itmes of clothing and tie them together to make a rope.

Hold one end (very tightly) and throw the other end to your friends on solid ground.

    They then pulled you out.

  3. get them to throw you a longish stick put stick flat on mud almost dig it into mud keep pulling yourself out of mud gradually slowly moving stick further away as you are pulling yourself out

  4. Put planks of wood down and quickly walk on them to safety...the same principle works on cars.

  5. Open up your communicator and yell "Beam me up Scotty"!

  6. The more surface area you have in contact with the mud, the less pressure you put on it. You can either lie flat and crawl out (messy) or place something under you to distribute your weight. A pole or branches or even tufts of grass will work.

  7. Slowly minus footwear usually, how did you get out?

  8. #1 if you cant get out of it don't get in it.

#2 follow some of the before mentioned advice, once you get on top of the mud move quickly.

  9. The fire brigade use more water to make it even wetter and moving (well, in sand they do).
