It's called Kinesio Tape.  It's a very strong tape that holds up and gives support to the shoulder.  It helps with pain and to reduce muscle fatigue.

as stated it is a medical tape she had surgery on her shoulder the tape is to hold the muscles in place and keep them from popping out.It was put in the position it was for the best usage of the medical tape.

It's a sort of wrap. Like some basketball player tape up their ankle because they hurt it a while ago and don't want to injure it again. Just protection so they don't injure themselves in the same spot.

it was kerri walsh.. she just had shoulder surgery in november... it was some sorta wrap so i didnt hurt or anything or she didnt irritate it...:-]

it was a brace. she had surgery sometime before the olympics and needed a brace so she wouldn't hurt herself more. i saw on the news that it is some kind of very new technology. but it seems to be doing its job well, the US is doing great (:
