One man's opinion: M-theory is rubbish.  It's an attempt to come up with some cause when scientists just can't stomach the fact that there probably IS no cause, at least as far as we understand cause and effect.  So they make up junk like this.  They write books through the popular press and give lectures and opine on documentaries, but so far there isn't the slightest evidence to support ANY of this M-theory/parallel universes/11-dimensional nonsense.  

I believe there is no cause.  There was no "before."  That doesn't sit well with a lot of people.  It's counter-intuitive and against all our experience.  But then, we're talking about the universe: all that ever was or ever will be.  There is nothing else like it.

No one knows for sure.  That's as far back as we can see.  That is the "beginning" of the known universe.  It's the origin of everything.  For their to exist some thing before existence it surely something we can't explain, or understand at this point.   Anyone that claims to be able to explain what happened before this is guessing from the perspective of faith, be it scientific or religious because there is absolutely no evidence to observe before the beginning.  That certainly doesn't mean we won't, but not yet.

the first cause that comes to mind when reading books.

first there was a singularity.

second there was a super force composed of weak and strong neuclear forces . electromagnatism and gravity.

when gravity broken off of the bunch, the whole thing collasped. and the infiniately dense singularity exploded.

but a problum is that the big bang is falsely named.

reason one. it came from a singularity so it was not big.

reason two. there was no atmosphere or gasses so there was no bang. you wouldnt be able to hear it.

lastly, saying what happened befor the universe was created or how it was created is like saying "what is north of the north pole"

If this theory is correct (which it does not seem to be holding up lately), then there had to be a "Prime Observer" if the quantum mechanical concept of Shrodinger's Cat is correct.
