  1. I don't know the whole story so I can't fully judge but from the lil i know so far it sounds like the act of someone who's a sore loser who didn't accept he didn't win anything higher than the Bronze Medal.

  2. I'm with Phate.  The media hasn't told us.  Maybe they think the argument over whether the calls were good or not is too technical for non-wrestlers to judge.  He claims 'politics' is the reason he lost.

In a way, you need to learn to accept bad calls and be a good sport about it.  However, if he really felt that there was no way that referee would allow him to win and that the contest was a joke, I can understand his upset--even to the point of giving back his medal in such an obnoxious way.  If it was just a bad call, then he needs to get over it and apologize.

  3. He thought that the judges made a bad call and was pretty close to lunging at them and beating them up. He was a real a-hole that didn't deserve to be in the Olympics; he flung his bronze medal on the floor, called the Olympics a failure, slammed a door so hard the walls shook, punched an aluminum barricade in anger and declared it the end of his career. That was the biggest display of poor sportsmanship in this year's Olympics.

  4. The media made it sound as if he was very spoiled and didnt get what he wanted..I'm sure politics had alot to do with it.

  5. He accused the judges of cheating and being bribed by the Chinese to give the Chinese wrestler the Gold

    Anyone have a video?

  6. He quit because basically he was a poorsport, and he didn't want anything but gold.

He was going for gold, and wouldn't accept anything less, then he blamed it on the judges.

  7. Sounds like a similar situation to what is happening in with the US gymnastic team accusing the judges of favouring the Chinese gymnasts.  He was annoyed the call didn't go his way, thought it had a lot to do with politics and refused his medal.  The exact same thing happened in Munich with the US basketball team who refused to accept their silver medal.

I guess you could also accuse the US of being bad sports too.  Just saying...

  8. He was basically being a poor sport because he wanted to win the gold medal and wasn't satisfied with the bronze.  Click on the link I've provided below for Yahoo's story on the event.
