I noticed the blood stains on the mat when I was watching the undercard on Showtime. What was up with that?

  1. It place in a fight. Unless you were in Stockton, or possess common sense, you wouldn't know. As clearly several people just don't know.

  2. i was thinking the same thing because the guy on showtimes announced "First fight of the night"  i dont think they dont wash them....

  3. I think it happened in an un-aired prelim.  Not all of the fights were shown on Showtime/CBS.

  4. hmm...

not too appealing, if someone has your face on the mat, and it's flat out pressed against someone's blood.

People'd be tapping, not because of that kimura latched on them, but because they don't want to catch HIV from their open face wound wiping up some other people's blood stains.

  5. The large blood "stain" over the bottom EliteXC logo was actually screen-printed on the canvas, not real blood. The exact blood splat pattern can be found in a set of Photoshop brushes (which I have but can't remember the name of the set) and applied with a single click of the mouse.

  6. I saw that too, and I just figured they had earlier fights that weren't aired.

  7. MMA cards have unaired preliminary matches that are usually used to fill time if the main card has time.  The blood on the mat was probably left by one of these matches.

And to the genius that was talking about HIV, these fighters all have to take blood tests before they are allowed to fight in regulated states, and a HIV test is part of it.  Fighters that have HIV are not allowed to fight.
