Question:

What was the effect of the Neolithic immigration to Europe from the Near East?

I'm basically wondering about European history. I know that about 35,000 years ago, the first humans came to Europe in a time called the "paleolithic." And most Europeans come from the same ancestor. (Halogroups R1a,R1b, I, N)

But about 10,000 years ago, farming people from the Middle East came giving Europeans the knowledge of farming and some say even the Indo-European languages. Most Europeans have some trace amounts of these "neolithic-origin" halotypes J, T1 and U3.

-Were these Neolithic farmers white? If not, do Europeans have some non-white blood?

This is a question that has been nagging me for weeks!

  1. Neolithic people came from around the perimeters of the Black Sea when it became body of salt water, after having been a farmable fresh water lake before the melting glaciers poured the Mediterranean Sea into it...

These prehistoric farmers are believe to have set forests on fire, for the sole purpose of clearing land for farming. By 7-10,000 years ago, they were primarily Caucasoid!

  2. My mtdna tells me I am a T2 (from clan T,which developed from the haplogroup JT and is sister to neolithic J,though the offshoot t2 may have entered Europe before the other T/t1's). Originally T's came from Anatolia and Mesopotamia (in modern dna banks I have found I have a match in Syria.)

but regarding neolithic Europeans -yes, they were caucasian...I have studied their remains, and they are generally a slender long headed 'mediterranean' type people. When you hear of some of them coming from North Africa, they are still white--you can see the type amongst the Berbers today, they can have hazel or green eyes and their children are often blonde when young.

Interesting my t2 lineage comes from Ireland--and I am one of the 'black Irish' with dark brown hair, hazel brown eyes and a light olive compexion...

  3. You might have your history a little skewed. When modren humans first arrived in Europe, it was mostly unfarmable, still in the grasp of an ice age.and they displaced a sub species called neanderthal. But, as we think farming did originate in the fertile cresent,in the near east,it is possible that the idea could have been introduced, but I think as the climate warmed, humans in Europe just figured out how to farm and domesticate animals on thier own, however, the Indo european language your reffering to is called sanskrit, the roots of latin and other more modern languages.you could be on to something there. And I know too little about anthropology to get into blood color, but, its something to think about.-good question!

  4. one effect was writing introduced from europe to the near east via the vinca culture.

  5. in the middle, a golden colour, they were african migrants.

  6. Actually the Neolithic people you are talking about were actually called Homo-sapiens/Homo-sapien sapien. These peoples did start up in europe and in the middle-east,but i'm not sure where your getting these Halotypes. What are they because i've never studied or heard a thing about Halotypes. And the people back then were Caucasion and they did have blood but it wasn't white it has always been red but some is blue because it's called oxyegen rich blood but when it reaches the surface of the skin it turns a regular red color. The white blood cells that you are talking about are part of our immune system which fights off illness and sicknesses. And if you have a chance to e-mail me and tell me what Halotypes are I would like to know.

  7. Persians are white with green eyes...

  8. Lets explain a couple of things...

The mutation for very light skin as only about 8,000 years old, and it centers on Northern Europe, along with the very recent (6,000 years) gene for blue eyes, and the 11,000 year old gene for blond hair. These mutations all seem to have occurred near the Baltic.

These people were definitely Caucasian, but their skin colour would have been more like a mid golden tan. Brown and black hair, with a few fair and auburn haired people would have been in this group. They'd have had mostly brown eyes, but with hazel, grey and green in there too. So just think, 'like Arabs'.

There's a C.L. Brace paper studying the skulls of the neolithic farmers from Southern Europe, and it concludes they have small, fine featured faces like modern Southern Europeans. These people contributed about 25% of the European gene pool, more as you get closer to Turkey.

The Neolithic farming revolution seems to have started about 15,000 years ago in Turkey, but wheat didn't make an appearance commonly until about 10,000 BC. they seem to have been growing lentils and nut trees before then.
