How is being smaller framed, and so hairless helpful?

Traits such as hairlessness and smaller frames are not necessarily evolutionary advantages.  Because most genes are linked and because throughout the history of human evolution certain genes have become more dominant it does not necessarily mean a selective advantage.  It simply means it is not a disadvantage and is not selected against by the environment in which the trait emerged.  It is also difficult to answer questions that contain broad generalizations such as this one (about people and races) because traits are generally clinal, or continuous, which means that there are a multitude of variation in Asia and the rest of the world, we just cannot see it because of immigration, warfare, and genocide which typically wipes out or creates populations with physical characteristics that have nothing to do with the environment.

If you are looking for some clear cut answer to the reasons things have evolved the way they have, you will not find it.  Hair, for example is not simply a response to cold, it can also serve as a cooling mechanism, protection from winds and sunburn, may be selected for or against by some sort of behavioral preference, or it may simply be linked to the genes for resistance to insect bites... who knows- it's impossible to say. Humans basically defy all reason when it comes to evolution, and I expect no answers will be readily forthcoming....

Being smaller is due to the traditional diet and the hairlessness is just local group variation in hormones. We are one species and the usual local response to the environment does not convey evolutionary advantage.

East asian men are known as sinodonts because they have distinctive teeth.  They came from Tibet based on language studies.  Sinodonts have black hair to protect from the sun and extra fat on thier lids to protect from the cold in the high elevations.  They probably have muscular adatations to a steep environment (my speculation).  They don't need hair since they have been wearing clothes for way longer than the race evolved.  Being smaller or larger is always something that has advantages and disadvantages.  The larger may do better in hand to hand fighting, the smaller needs less food and may be healthier overall and is less stress on joints and organs such as the heart.  Since they evolved a very high technology to cope with their tough himalyan environment, they probably didn't need to become that big meaning they had very capable weopons.  The optimum size was apparently relatively small compared to people from Belgium.  They are much larger than Mayans.
