  1. was Iximché

Pedro de Alvarado considers opportunely founds a population who would use as center of government of the territories and conquered peoples(villages). The select place was Iximché's seat, where the strength(fortress) of the cakchiqueles was raised. This first foundation, in which the title of Village was used, was done on July 25, 1524. The first capital of Guatemala, in spite of taking advantage of the housings that there existed, only was a military camp. The first record that gathers the Old Book is dated the same day of the foundation. Pedro de Alvarado undressed in the power that Hernán Cortes had granted him, did the first appointments to integrate the Chapter, dictated ordinances of government and there tried to become institutionalized the life of that small core of Spanish.
