What was the first Supermarket in the UK & what made it the first (size, service, prices, staff, large stock , more choice etc, ) & what has changed since then ?

  1. the first one was morrisons.


  2. I think it was J Sainsbury who started out with small grocers shops many years ago and grew from there.  If you are counting M&S as a supermarket then they started with a market stall (in Leeds I think) called the "Penny Bazaar" - everything on the stall was 1 penny.
